Samsung ML 1630 - The Suited Small Business Printer
Appearance- The Samsung ML 1630 printer is the most stylish printer on the market, without a doubt. The printer mechanics are housed in modern, glossy black finish cases, resembling double-storey slabs. It weighs in at a very compact 13x 14.7 and an incredibly 4.8 inches. Great value at under US$200.00. The best toner for this printer is the ML 1630 cartridge.
Control Panel- If you are a little technologically challenged, you are in luck as the designers at Samsung have come up with a wonderful easy control panel with only two buttons and a LED screen for showing print status, options and other information in pictures and words.
Print Quality- Text, picture and graphic printing is slightly above average at 600x1200 resolutions. In terms of text printing you will not find more perfect printing, with blemish and blur-free outlines, even with almost microscopic font size, gray scale or web printing. Graphics and picture printing on the other hand you may encounter a bit of dithering and banding. However if you take into consideration that the printer is only a small office or home printer the quality is still very good. If immaculate graphics and photo printing is required rather invest in a colour printer.
Media Types and Sizes- A very big disadvantage to the printer is it's limited paper capacity of 100 sheets in and 30 sheets out. However the printer's overall duty cycle is an astonishing 5000 pages. All standard paper sizes are compatible with the printer incl. Letter and Exec. Media types however are a little more limited, with envelope and card printing no supported. Your first page will be produced in a couple of seconds from power to print so there is no more waiting for printer warm-up before printing starts. The printers' engine speed is slow at when compared to other printers in same price range.
Port options- No old fashioned interface options here, included with the unit is super speedy USB interface connection for either your computer or camera. Cables are not included with your purchase.
Memory options- A very small amount of memory is included with the printer and unfortunately memory upgrading is not available. So if you are not satisfied with 8 Mb's memory due to large printing environment or networking rather opt for another printer.
Systems accepted- Windows, Linux and Apple Mac operating systems are all compatible with the printer. This is good news for especially Apple Mac users who generally encounter problems with printer and system compatibility.
Guarantee- A twelve month guarantee comes standard with your printer investment. However you should keep in mind that the guarantee is very restricted in terms of parts and labour. Repairs and service should only be conducted by approved Samsung dealers as it can impact your guarantee with the possibility of rendering it void.
Toner- Samsung ML 1630 toner starter pack is included with your printer.
